Change up your regular spaghetti and meatballs by grabbing some Popsicle sticks and transforming these little bites into fun party treats.
Directions for: Deep Fried Spaghetti and Meatballs
Ingredients
lb(s) lean ground beef
cup diced onion, sauteed
1 Tbsp pureed garlic
1 egg, beaten
2 Tbsp parsley, chopped
1 Tbsp breadcrumbs
lb(s) spaghetti, cooked
2 Tbsp store-bought marinara sauce, plus extra for garnish
1 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for garnish
Oil, for frying
Popsicle sticks
Salt and pepper
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
2. in a medium sized bowl mix ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, parsley, and breadcrumbs. if the mixture is wet you can add more breadcrumbs. Divide mixture into 6 meatballs. Lightly pan sear until golden brown. Place meatballs on baking sheet and cook 15 minutes.
3. in a large bowl mix the meatballs, spaghetti, marinara sauce, and Parmesan cheese until thoroughly combined. Spray a casserole dish with non-stick spray and begin to add the mix. Make sure you keep the meatballs separate from one another in the dish, surrounded by spaghetti. Press mixture down evenly. Wrap and refrigerate for 4-6 hours.
4. Preheat 2 cups of oil to 350F. Cut the chilled pasta into 6 equal portions, making sure there is one meatball per square (or circles). when the oil is heated gently place one piece into the oil at a time. Fry until pasta becomes golden colour, about 6-8 minutes per side. Remove and place a stick through the spaghetti into the meatball. Repeat until they are all fried. Garnish with marinara sauce, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
