This BFF burger is going to become your new BFF, with an amazing homemade BBQ sauce over a ground beef patty with bacon, cheddar, fresh lettuce, tomato and red onion.

Ingredients
BFF BBQ Sauce2 cups + 2 Tbsp crushed tomatoes
2 cups + 2 Tbsp ketchup
1 cup red wine vinegar
1 cup fancy molasses
cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp hickory liquid smoke
1 Tbsp butter
tsp garlic powder
tsp onion powder
tsp paprika
tsp celery seed
tsp cinnamon
tsp each salt and black pepper
BFF Sauce2 cups + 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
2 Tbsp mustard
cup relish
2 tsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp Frank's Red Hot
Burger Assembly2 lb(s) medium ground beef
4 - 6 strips beef bacon, cut in half lengthwise
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp butter (optional)
8 slices Cheddar
4 egg buns
head leaf lettuce
1 medium hot house tomato, sliced
red onion, sliced into half-moons
Directions
BFF BBQ Sauce1. in a large saucepan, combine crushed tomatoes, ketchup, red wine vinegar, molasses, brown sugar, liquid smoke, butter, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, celery seed, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
2. Bring mixture to a boil, whisking often to prevent sauce from burning.
3. once mixture has come to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
4. Remove sauce from heat and set aside to cool to room temperature.
BFF Sauce1. in a large bowl, combine cup of the cooled BFF BBQ Sauce with mayonnaise, mustard, relish, garlic powder, and Franks Red Hot.
2. Mix well and set aside until burger assembly.
Burger Assembly1. Divide ground beef into eight 4-ounce portions and roll into meatballs, being careful not to over-handle the meat.
2. in a medium pan over medium heat, fry bacon with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil until crisp on both sides; set bacon aside until burger assembly.
3. to cook the burgers, heat a large cast iron skillet over high heat with 2 tablespoons of butter or preheat a grill to high.
4. once butter has melted or grill has reached temperature, flatten meatballs into the skillet or onto the grill to form -inch thick patties.
5. Cook burgers for 2 to 3 minutes until browned on the first side.
6. Flip burgers and drape Cheddar over top to melt; continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes, or until burger juices run clear and burgers reach an internal temperature of at least 145F.
7. Toast buns on the grill or under a broiler and spread reserved BFF Sauce on both sides of the bun.
8. Place two patties on each bottom bun and top with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
Tips and Substitutions
Special Equipment: Large saucepan, grill or large cast iron skillet, meat thermometer (optional)
Extra BFF BBQ Sauce and BFF Saucewill keep for up to 2 weeks, if covered and refrigerated.
