Sloppy Joes

Directions for: Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

lb(s) hickory-smoked bacon, chopped

1 medium onion (12 cup), chopped

12 clove garlic (2 tablespoons), chopped

1 lb(s) ground beef brisket (available at most small butchers; substitute with ground chuck, if necessary)

1 tsp black pepper

2 tsp cumin

1 tsp paprika

cup ketchup

2 Tbsp yellow mustard

2 Tbsp Sriracha sauce

cup molasses

4 white hamburger buns

3 Tbsp sour cream

1 green onion, sliced

Directions

1. Preheat broiler.

2. in a large pan, stir and cook bacon until crisp, about 8 minutes.

3. Add chopped onion and garlic to the pan; stir and cook for 5 minutes, or until onions are soft.

4. Add ground brisket to the pan; cook for 10 minutes, stirring often, until brisket is no longer pink.

5. in a small bowl, stir together black pepper, cumin, and paprika. Add spice mixture to meat, reduce heat to low, and cook and stir for an additional 5 minutes.

6. in a medium bowl, stir together ketchup, yellow mustard, Sriracha sauce, and molasses; add mixture to the pan and increase heat to medium.

7. Cook and stir for an additional 10 minutes, until mixture is evenly sauced and coloured.

8. Toast buns under the broiler for 1 minute, or until lightly browned.

9. Add of the Sloppy Joe mixture to each bottom bun; drizzle sour cream over top, garnish with sliced green onions, and close.
