Directions for: Burger Patty

Ingredients

Charred Onions

1 red onion, sliced into 1/2-inch rings

2 tsp sugar

2 tsp salt

Burger Patty

2 Tbsp butter

3 green onions, finely sliced

5 sprigs fresh cilantro, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp ground cumin

2 lb(s) ground beef

Salt and pepper

8 sesame seed buns

8 slices Cheddar cheese

cup grainy mustard

1 head Boston lettuce, separated

2 beefsteak tomatoes, sliced

8 dill pickle slices

Directions

Charred Onions

1. Sprinkle salt and sugar over onion slices and let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Place onion slices in pan and cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Let cool.

Burger Patty

1. in a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook green onions, cilantro, garlic, and cumin for about 3 minutes, or until softened and let cool.

2. in a large bowl, combine ground beef with onion mixture and season with salt and pepper. Chill 15 minutes minimum; shape into burger patties.

3. Grill burgers over medium high heat until no longer pink inside. Top each burger with a cheese slice; melt, and place cheeseburger on bun bottoms. Spread bun tops with grainy mustard, top burger with lettuce, tomato, charred onions and pickle before serving.
